Dear all,
Some of you might’ve seen that Chris, Q, is no longer in our Telegram group. The background is that a large number of our group members were no longer comfortable attending RBR events due to Q’s demeanor. Group members reported feeling stifled, condescended to, and that Chris didn’t respect other people’s boundaries. Several members left first and only came to admins afterward. Several more came to us before leaving, but made it clear that something needed to change if they were to stay. The admin team agonized over this for weeks. How do we do what’s right for those members while also respecting Q and his contributions to the group?
The tipping point came when Q entered a private conversation among the admins and refused to leave when he was asked. Suffice it to say that Q’s response to being asked to leave was… instructive, and the next morning, he said point blank that he wished two of our group members in particular were dead. We don’t even know what to say about that other than it’s a pretty good example of why people were uncomfortable in the first place.
Ultimately, it’s important to us that we maintain a culture of kindness and mutual respect, and that culture wasn’t being supported by those kinds of behaviors. Please let the admins know if this is something you’d like to discuss either one on one or in a group. Thank you for your understanding.
Please note: the website has been updated to include a code of conduct and a more inclusive admin page with links to reach all admins. If you have any questions about any part of this, please reach out.
